Dori and Bill’s Italy Vacation
Dori and Bill spent their vacation in Italy exploring Venice, Florence, Rome and the Amalfi Coast. The combination of the city stays with the relaxation on the coast make it an ideal Italy vacation for first time visitors. They stayed in some of Italy’s top 5-star hotels and enjoyed private tours. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
Hi! I’m so sorry I have not been in touch since we returned from Italy, but both Bill and I wanted to let you know that we had a fabulous time! We enjoyed it as much as Greece 5 years ago and we didn’t think that was possible. We wanted to thank you for putting together such a wonderful trip for us. Trying to select the hotels from afar would have been a nightmare and you made the process so simple for us. Then upon arrival, we found ourselves in lovely hotels with fabulous service and in a beautiful, practical location that in the end certainly saved us in cab fares and time.
In Venice: Santa Chiara-perfect location by water taxi station and walking distance to the train station-perfect!!!! Overlooking the canal. The canal is bit noisy, but we would have been disappointed not overlooking the canal for our only two nights there. A beautiful spot!
In Florence: Of our hotels, this was the farthest from the train station-a 15 minute walk, but on the Arno River and the walk is right through the heart of Florence. Thank you so much for discouraging us from staying at the other hotel I suggested… it would have been too far! Breakfast was very good here! We really enjoyed Ponte Vecchio area at night to people watch so this location was an added bonus.
In Sienna: Hotel Athena-lovely hotel, but most impressive was the staff. The front desk person was warm and so friendly and helpful. We didn’t have much time here, but it was a part of Italy that was very different from the rest of the trip so we were so glad to have explored here.
In Positano: Our hotel on the beach here, we decided, was the best possible in this city. We LOVED it! It was our honeymoon all over. We enjoyed wine and cheese on the balcony overlooking the beach every night. The pool had wonderful views and the food and service there was amazing! And the breakfasts here offered something for everyone, which was really nice if you didn’t want to have just croissants and coffee. A lot of healthy options here which we really appreciated!
In Rome: Again, proximity to the train station and subway was SO helpful here. We used the subway to cover Rome in 2 days and this location made it feasible at a relatively inexpensive price using the subway. We did have a little trouble with getting wifi here, but service and breakfast were very good. The breakfasts, not so healthy, but if you like sweets, a great variety of sweet breads.
Things we will always remember: Our luncheon and tour at the Villa/winery in Monterinaldo. Again, the staff made the visit a perfect day. To be treated to our own dining room with personal service and discussion with each wine and such friendly people was so much fun for us. Maoro waited on us and he was so kind and a different gentleman gave us the tour that wasn’t quite as animated, but very interesting and obviously both passionate about what they do. The whole day in Tuscany with Mierko driving us from place to place was awesome. Since we were limited in time, this was the best way to see a lot in a short time. (Avoid us getting lost on our own adventures). He was very informative, friendly and gave us plenty of flexibility in our day to do what we wanted to see and do.
All in all a perfect trip! There isn’t one thing we would have changed in this journey! So thank you again. We will surely be in touch in the future for our next great trip! You are two for two!
